Rabbit Rescue Rally and other news!

We've been quite busy, so get ready for a long read!  There are lots of fun pictures though!

All of us here at 4 Lil Pigs n Buns had quite a busy weekend!!  Petco stores around the country hosted the Rabbit Rescue Rally Weekend on February 18th & 19th.  Amber, Kyle, & Stefanie were at the Brandon store, Ally & family were at the Port Richey store, and Sarah was at the Port Charlotte store.  We showcased adoptable bunnies (and piggies!), offered care advice, handed out educational flyers, clipped bunny nails, and worked on getting word about our rescue out there!  4 Lil Pigs n Buns was also featured on Tampa Bay 10 News!

Jack the rabbit came to visit us with his mom in Port Charlotte!
Many of our newest additions to the rescue got some time in the spotlight this weekend - Suki & Momo, River, Milo, and Nutmeg are all fairly new additions!

Our most exciting news was that 4 bunnies and 1 guinea pig went to their forever homes!
Oscar has been with us for quite some time, so we were so happy to see him find a home!

We were also ECSTATIC to see our timid little Jane find a home!

Loveable little Romeo also went home!

Beautiful Abigail found a family to love her!
And Ariel (formerly Sniffy), the piggy who came to us so ill, recovered and is now going to be living it up with a loving family, a new piggy friend, and a wonderful large cage!
A huge thanks goes out to all the volunteers, Petco staff, visitors, and adopters for making this event possible.

In other news -- there are a couple of large-scale rescues going on.  We got a call about 30 rabbits in a hoarding situation.  We are very limited in space right now, so as always, we are looking for good, committed, long-term foster homes.  If you can help, please email questions@pigsnbuns.org.  For more information on fostering please visit http://www.pigsnbuns.org/volunteer.html

There is also another situation going on in north Florida of which we have become aware.  A rescue up there is being forced to shut down due to the failing health of the man who runs it.  He is desperately searching for help.  An account has been set up at his local feed store to help him with feed costs.  Here is the information:
"Anyone wanting to help Jerry Korman with feed supply costs, I spoke with Lake Park Hardware, you can call starting tomorrow (Tuesday) ask for Shawn make sure they invoice it for Jerry Korman you can call 229-559-3481. This was approved by the store manager Christie. A bag of rabbit pellets is about $15 a bag, they will give store credit. Hay would be good too!"
Please contact us if there is any other way you can help, and we will get you the information.  The bunnies are located in Jennings, FL.  Transport, donations, foster homes, and adoptive homes will all be needed.  Due to our current overflow situation, we cannot take any of the bunnies ourselves, but are doing all we can to help.

And last but not least, we are gearing up for the Easter season.  Time to start printing those "Make Mine Chocolate" flyers!  We are making some big plans for the Brandon Petco, so stay tuned as the Easter season edges closer.  Easter (and the following months) are a rough time for rabbit rescues, as it falls upon us to take in unwanted "Easter bunnies".  Make your Easter bunny a chocolate or stuffed one, and if you do want to bring home a pet bunny, please research the proper care techniques and give us a call!  We have plenty of homeless bunnies looking for love!
