New Year Happenings

Hello and Happy New Year, everyone!  We are looking forward to a new year of helping animals find wonderful forever homes here at 4 Lil Pigs n Buns.

We've got some news and upcoming events, so read on!

A few of our animals have recently found loving homes - here are a few of the lucky adoptees:
Lily & Buttercup, our cute little robo hamster pair, went to an awesome home!  We had a couple of other hamsters go home over the holidays as well!  Thank you to everyone who adopted these little guys!

Stormy, our little bunny with a big personality, is on her way to being bonded with a handsome boy bun.
Hershey, our sweet boy who had been adopted but came back, was adopted by one of our awesome volunteers!  He will be living the good life!
Charlie, one of our MANY boy piggies, went home!
Jonah, our courtesy listing down in Naples, also found a home!
So a big THANK YOU goes out to our supporters and adopters for helping to make these happy endings!  We have so many more animals that need homes, so we hope to see your continued support throughout 2013!

And now some announcements:
On Saturday, January 19th, we will be holding our first event at Pet Food Warehouse.

When: Saturday, January 19, 2013.
Time: 11am until 3pm
Where: Pet Food Warehouse
6155 B 18th Street North
Saint Petersburg, Florida 33714

We will be there with several animals for you to meet. We will be offering nail trims, ear cleaning, even grooming! We will have some used items for sale (like little beds and cube beds for the critters) to help raise funds for the rescue. We will also be available to answer any of your questions and concerns!

We are scheduled to be at Pet Food Warehouse EVERY THIRD SATURDAY OF THE MONTH! Please come join us. While you're there, check out the great items that Pet Food Warehouse has for sale, including Oxbow and Busy Bunny products!

Adopt-a-Rabbit Month and Bonding Event
We are also gearing up for Adopt-a-Rabbit month in February.  This is a huge month for rabbit rescues, and we are hoping to find as many homes as possible for our very deserving bunnies.  Do you have a lonely bunny?  Well, February is the month for love!  Now is the time to start thinking about finding a partner for your (spayed/neutered) bunny.  If your bunny is not spayed/neutered, you can visit our new vet page on our website for recommendations:

Not sure about bonding?  We can help!  We will be having an event at the rescue's NEW location in Dover on February 23rd.  We will be having a bonding seminar starting at 12pm, and will have bunny speed-dating sessions (MUST be pre-approved for adoption, so get those applications in!) from 12-4pm to help your bunny find their soul mate.  And good news!  If you are adopting a bun to adopt to your single bun at the event, our adoption fee will be reduced to $45!

New Rescue Headquarters in Dover
Perhaps our biggest news of the new year is that our VP, Amber, is outfitting a large part of her home as the headquarters for the rescue.  We have completed some work, but there is still much to do.  We still need new flooring (ripping out old carpet and putting in sturdy tile) and some other renovations before it is complete.

One completed foster room
We still have so much more work to do, but when it is finished, it is going to be an awesome space for the animals.  Want to help?  We are in dire need of donations for supplies to finish.  Our PayPal address is  Can you make it to Dover?  Want to help with labor?  Send us an email at to ask when our next workday is.

We are also looking for volunteers to lend a hand with animal care at the Dover location.  Want to help clean cages, feed & water, and socialize animals?  Then we can use our help!  Fill out a volunteer application here:

How else can I help?
Our needs right now --
  1. We can ALWAYS use help with hay (timothy), pellets (PLAIN - no seeds etc), and litter.  We especially welcome Oxbow, Sweet Meadow, Zupreem, American Pet Diner, and Small Pet Select products.  We can use rabbit pellets, guinea pig pellets, hamster/gerbil/rat food, and ferret food.
  2. Monetary donations are always welcome.  If you would like to donate directly to our vet, let us know and we will get you the info!  We can also use gift cards to pet stores, Walmart, Publix (for veggies), Home Depot/Lowes (for finishing renovations), and gas stations (we spend a lot of money on gas to transport critters!)
  3. Foster homes - the more foster homes we have, the more animals we can save.  We are always looking for good bunny foster homes, especially in the Tampa/St. Pete area.  Can you transport animals?  Animals often need to be transported to/from the vet, to/from the spay/neuter clinic, between Port Charlotte and Tampa/St. Pete/Dover, and from humane societies to our rescue.
  4. Adopters!  Thinking of adding a pet to your family?  Fill out an adoption questionnaire:
We appreciate your continued support throughout the coming year.  For the most up-to-date announcements, "like" our Facebook page (link on the right).  Keep an eye out!  We will be making more announcements in the coming weeks!

  1. I am always searching online for articles that can help me. There is obviously a lot to know about this. I think you made some good points in Features also. Keep working, great job! For more useful information about organic pet food visit our website here
